Today I received my 99.1 with silver dial, gold applied numerals, gold hands, quattro arret feature, and dark brown leather strap. Sorry that I am not able to take better pictures, but the watch comes to life when light hits it at various angles. To say that I am thrilled with the watch is an understatement, and I look forward to many years of enjoyment with my Dornblueth.

With a new year, and Baselworld talk already starting, what new things would like to see from D.Dornblüth & Sohn?

In no particular order, I'd love to see:

- an upgraded buckle: not a new idea, but I have to agree with many on this forum (and elsewhere) who point out that the quality of the buckle and the engraving doesn't keep up with the watch and strap. How about a nice chunk of metal for a change?

- the engraved dial offered in more models: right now, I think it's only for ...

Visit to D.Dornblüth & Sohn

Some time ago I had seen a new type of dial for my Dornblüth 99.1. Normally I want to keep my watches in the most original state possible, but when I saw the new dial in real life I was struck by the sparkling silver appearance. After thorough consideration I decided to have the dial replaced. Of course it was also my intention to keep the original dial, this way I could have the new one replaced by the original one whenever I wanted.

I had the idea to make ...

The base caliber is the GUB 60.1 (this family of movements gave rise to the Dornblüth 03.0 "Mini" and (I think) the 04.0 "Midi"). It has been considerably enhanced with many signature features, ...

After three months of eager wait, my 99.1 finally arrived this morning!!!

Apologies in advance for the quick but poor photo quality.

The 99.1 certainly does not pale in comparison to my two other German watches from Glashutte Original!

Hoping for Dirk to release a smaller Dornblueth to accompany my 99.1.

I would certainly be in the front of the queue to get it!!

and had the possibility to visit the manufaktur.

It was an great experience!!!

after that we sitting in the showroom with dirk, and a cup of coffee.

First my wish was a 99.0 (regarding the price) then my wife looks at the 99.2 and said " if you want a dorblüth, then order this model"

and so, now i'm waiting for a 99.2 :-)

by the way: I asked dirk to repair/maintenance my two GUB's

Friends,

I know several of you attended the event in Maastricht, but nary a post about the experience? Surely there were some beautiful Dornblüths on display? Perhaps there was some interesting conversation with Dirk and Anja?

Was there any informal GTG of our forum mates?

Please, please post your photos and share some of the experience and insight you gained there!

Greetings!

I recently discovered Dornblueth watches and I have decided to purchase one to celebrate my wedding, which is coming up in a few months. I am a fan of all of Dirk's models (especially the 99.1 with the double rails and the Centre Second), but for me, the off-kilter balance of the 99.2 and 99.4 represents a perfect marriage of elegance, beauty and sophistication. I'll be looking to order one of them soon enough.

Looking forward to sharing photos with the board when I officially ...

My question is, is it too much to go with blue steel appliqués with an enamel dial or stay with the traditional print?

I would like to know if anyone has considered contrasting engraving on the balance cock and what do you think of a red/ gold combination? I think it would show off the engraving very nicely.

Hello everyone, I am an Englishman who is interested in watches in general and have recently been introduced to the Dornbluth... I was going to say brand; but that seems inappropriate somehow. Let me call them watchmakers because to my mind that is what they are first and formost.

My aim here is to learn more about Dornbluth before comitting to buy in the future (and save the necessary funds to do so).

Now, as they say in all the best cartoons - lets get on with the show!

My name is Hans Mennink, and I'm into watches for 9 years now.

I developed a special liking for Omega Speedmasters, the brand Sinn, the work and the person that Christiaan van der Klaauw is, and for the Masterpiece serie from Maurice Lacroix.

It was Christiaan van der Klaauw that first attended me to the wonderful work of the family Dornbluth. I first met Dirk at the 2006 Basel watch-fair while visiting the AHCI stand. he had a suitcase with many lovely watches. On the picture is Dirk, ...

Hello Again,

For those of you that remember I originally posted back in July regarding my recent heirloom purchase of a 99.2 to commemorate my firstborn (Hello from San Jose 99.2). I'm not the first to consider a DD&S for such an occasion. But, the difficult part was that prior to purchase I had decided not to physically put the watch on until the the moment of the birth of my son. Hence, I can always tell him exactly how long I've been wearing the watch.

Well, as of this past ...

Fellow Dornblüth fans –

Many of us know how getting our first Dornblüth leads to wanting to get another (yes, Roger, looking at you). Often this is oriented around wanting a different movement/complication, but sometimes it arises from wanting a different dial, particularly since they are all variations of the marine deck watch theme and are all very beautiful.

One of the difficult things about making these choices is our reliance on photos, since Dornblüths are not widely seen nor ...

Greetings from Singapore. I have been a watch lover for three years and the passion only grew when I bought a Russian watch with a vintage movement.

Since then, I have fell in love with German watches, and more specifically Glashutte watchmaking. In my collection today are two Glashutte Original but Dornblüth simply grew on me with their traditional watchmaking techniques.

After having lusted after a Dornbluth for quite some time, I finally was able to get my hands on a nice 99.2 today (silver dial/printed). Love the brand, love the history, love the watch =)

I have to wait until November 26th to wear it though. I made a promise to myself that the Dornie would be an heirloom for my first-born son. I figured that it would be a sentimental touch to wear the watch for the first time I hold my son this coming Thanksgiving.

Finally, I'm a new proud owner of a magnificent Dornbluth 99.1!

After 8 months of wait the day comes! Well I have to say that it's absolutely better then I can imagine, I own varoius watches from varous brands, but I think that it's absolutely my favourite, no one can give that kind of "feeling" when I wear it, it's simply PERFECT!! Try to belive.

The only problem with this watch is that now I want absolutely another!! But I think that I have to wait to equilibrate my economic ...

I arrived home this evening to find waiting for me a large FedEx parcel from Germany which I've been eagerly awaiting since I placed an order last June.

So, without further ado, I present the new horological love of my life:

It's a 99.1 in stainless steel.

It's got the enamel dial, which has a glorious glossy lustre in real life and which I've tried, and failed miserably, to capture accurately in the photos...

And, of course, the engraved back which ...

Hello all,

A new person to the forum here. Those gorgeous pictures by Jocke have warmed me to Dornbluth's watches. I noticed there is a porcelain dial option but it isn't clear to me if that is limited to the Regulator and possibly Gorch Fock or to the others.

Does anyone know which models can have a porcelain dial? I noticed the both the Regulator and Gorch Fock dials are machined. Are the other model's dial machined as well or flat?

Anyone know what the porcelain dial option ...

How about the precision of Dornbluth watches...

I thought that it would be interesting to start a topic about the precision in timekeeping of the Dornbluth watches. Why? Because, in my opinion, the beauty of a watch is very much about how well it keeps time...this is the first purpose of a watch, to measure time...a beautiful looking watch means nothing if it doesn't have the ability to tell the time within a reasonable margin of accuracy. So...did anybody tested his or her watch?

Hello,

I am from Prague, Czech Rep. I am glad I meet Jocke here whom I have known from several other fora. Hi, Jocke!

Several years I have been following DD watches but still have none. Maybe soon ...

I can see here that Dornbluth's made custom modifications that are not mentioned in their catalogue - gold numerals on dial, and perhaps some others. It seems that the balance cock is made of gold, am I right?

The time I feel "need" for a new watch has come. As always I would like ...
