1 My Dornblüth Collection on Fri Jun 27, 2008 3:26 am

I received my first Dornblüth in May 2007. It is a 99.3 in stainless steel, black dial with raised numerals and quattro arrett:

In April 2008 I was fortunate to acquire my 04.0 "Midi" in rose gold with silver dial and printed numerals:

Two weeks ago I acquired my 99.2, which is on its way to Kalbe for a dial change.

A new Regulator is currently on order, but don't tell my wife!

Absolutely a great collection mate! 99.2 is my favorite Dornblüth, I 'm on the way to have a 99.1 (November) and I think that 99.2 will be next...Just a curiosity: how many times you have to wait for a Regulator?

I ordered the Regulator in the beginning of June, and Dirk promises delivery in December. We'll see....

. . . after seeing them both in the metal, and now being reminded of perfect they are virtually, just reinforces my desire to get one . . . regards, Art

Dornblogger,

Since you own a Dorny with silver dial and one with black dial - which dial do you recommend for someone who will probably AT MOST ever own one Dornblueth. I like black dials in general, and lume, but I understand that the Dornblueth silver dial is pretty special.

Thanks,

Mike

This is a tough call, and ultimately it's one that you'll have to make for yourself. There are a lot of permutations to consider: silver, black, blue, printed numerals, raised numerals, luminous numerals, the new in-house engraved dial, ceramic, etc.. What's the rest of your collection look like? What will you WEAR the most? What speaks to you?

My first was the black 99.3. I love it, and I wear it often. Then I picked up the silver dial. It's on the rose gold 04.0, which I don't wear as often, but that grainy matte finish is wonderful to look at. Now I've got the blue 99.2. I don't know how it is in Austin, but I wear jeans a lot here in L.A., and this blue 99.2 is eye catching and just plain fantastic as a daily wearer.

My advice is to trust your gut. The decision need not be a permanent one. Dirk will happily switch out dials and hands for you at very fair prices. His willingness to fuel your passion for his work is a big part of what makes owning a Dornblüth such a special experience.

Remember, whatever you do, we want photos!

Cool

Thanks for the helpful thoughts and experiences, dornblogger. I agree that it's a personal decision, but I think I will have to see at least some of the different choices in person before being able to decide. I wish the Dornblueth website had some little movies showing the watches being turned at different angles.

Well, I've never been to Germany before...

It's great to know that Dirk will switch out dials.

Austin is absolutely a jeans town. Even the fanciest restaurants have to relax their dress codes or no one will visit.
